I have many art inspirations, but two of these are Rebecca Sugar (Cartoon Network's Steven Universe) and Dana Terrace (Disney Channel's The Owl House), who are both creators of serialized (story driven) cartoon shows that tend to teach important lessons to children. The reason I am inspired by people like these two is because I like their variety of art and one day I want to make a serialized cartoon like them (I even already have a story idea in mind). The first four pictures are examples of Dana's work and the second four are examples of Rebecca's work.
I like Rebecca's "free" lines and values that she uses in her drawings, even if it's not colored completely like some of the pictures below or the other ones that are on her Instagram. I also like the way she colors her art and the pallets that are used within her colored art, like the one of her with the guitar and jacket, I like the color choices there.
With Dana, again, I also like the way she uses line in her artwork, there is a nice variety of thick and thin lines in her artwork. I also like the shapes she uses with the characters she draws for her characters. The values are very well done for the more cinematic drawings. I also like the way she draws anatomy and backgrounds and one day I hope I can try to draw more like that.
I think one of the goals I wish to come out of both Junior Portfolio 2D and 3D is to experiment with different mediums, styles and overall just any kind of art. Of course, I have a set cartoon artstyle that I like to draw in, but I want to strengthen my skills in any other kind of art, like watercolor, acrylics, digital, and many more. Overall, I want to do a discovery of new skills in art and have my portfolio be a good variety of stuff. Another goal I wish to have is to learn how to use my sketchbook in the most effective way possible, perhaps get some sketchbook ideas and try to fill my sketchbooks faster and more efficiently.
Very interesting, and I can certainly see these influences in your work, Elena!
